Hi,

Have you done your HACCP

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a systematic preventive approach to food and pharmaceutical safety that addresses physical, chemical, and biological hazards.

Based on that you must have identified the hazards in your product.

This statement seems to say that you do not have a frequency defined for testing for food hazards in your product.

Not sure what product you have. Secondly if it is internal audit you should clarify with your auditor and how this can be addressed or closed.

Hi shanshan,

You should have asked whoever did the mock audit. That's what you paid "them" for.

It looks like your documented response missed some significant product/process "activity" in progress.

Such mystical clauses as on the left are (a) how BRC sell their IG (interp.guidelines) and (b) how BRC can claim compliance to UK due diligence requirements including non-specifically-safety related aspects.

The detailed answer to right-hand side depends on what "business(es)" you are actually doing and particularly with respect to the BRC included factors.

This requirement concerns testing and inspection schedules. Firstly, you must monitor compliance with specification by testing and inspection. Secondly, the procedures must be documented, that is test methods and frequencies.
Therefore, the Auditor will be looking for a risk-based system that shall be documented. The procedures should include what to look for and how, specifying tolerances. A typical example would be moisture checks on dried products. In that case, the Auditor would want to see instruction on how to use the instrument, how often to do the test, records of checks, limits and tolerances and instruction on what to do if out of specification.

Kind Regards,

Charles.C

we already have testing. complete (microbiological testing, listeria, entorocci) for finished products, ice analysis, and water analysis etc.we conducted this analysis evry month.  we are already haccp certified.

How did you decide to test monthly (or whatever the applicable frequency is for product testing)?

Reading the non-conformance it sounds as though at least some of the testing schedule isn't defined based on BRC's favourite thing - a risk assessment.

Do you have limits defined for all of these parameters? Again it looks as though this may be missing for some of the tests that the auditor seems to think are relevant.

I agree with Charles though - this is a significant part of the purpose of paying for a gap audit so ideally they should have talked it through at the time, but nonetheless I'd still be contacting whoever did it to ask them for more specific detail on exactly what they feel is missing.

It is also all too possible for auditors to misunderstand things so this will also provide opportunity for you to discuss what you actually have in place, to allow for a conclusion on what additional work may or may not actually be needed to meet the requirements of this clause.

The auditor appears to have left some information out of the finding. I would start with reviewing your haccp program and go from there working through. This should identify what the auditor was getting at.
