Can any one can advice according to FDA(USA) food labelling rules does sulfite need to written with caramel color if sulfite mentioned in the Contains statement.

https://farrp.unl.edu/sulfites-usa says that "Sulfites must be declared in these cases when the concentration in the food is ≥10 ppm total SO2.  [21 CFR 101.100 (a)(4)". It is important to note that this applies to added sulfites.

 

So, if an ingredient like caramel coloring has, say, 35 ppm sulfites, but is only 0.5% of a formulation, then the final amount of added sulfites is 0.175 pmm and so should not be declared.

Seems like some caramel colorings can be tricky with respect to sulphites, eg -

Note also that the Regulation 10 ppm refers to total (Monier -Williams measured) SO₂, not "sulphite", ,eg this thread -
