Is heavy metal contamination classed as a chemical hazard?

What hazard category would heavy metal contamination in food (Lead) be classified as? Is it a chemical one? I do know its neither physical or biological. Could be classified as "other" if not chemical?

I would lean towards chemical since chemicals are ompounds can cause illness or injury due to immediate or long term exposure.

Setana is correct. According to Table 3- 6 - Quick Reference Guide for Common Sources of Chemical Hazards in the FDA Document Chapter 3: Potential Hazards Associated with the Manufacturing, Processing, Packing, and Holding of Human Food

 

"• Heavy metals in or on produce raw agricultural commodities is classified as a chemical hazard".
