?I am curious to know if any of you use an Ozone Water System for cleaning that has in part or in whole replaced all sanitation chemicals at your facility?

I am interested in learning the pro's and con's of these systems and the ease (or non-ease) of training on the system for general employees as well as dedicated sanitation crews.

Thank you for your input.

Sir,

We tried in my previous organization using ozonated water for CIP of packaged drinking water line, but our senior management rejected the proposal bcoz it was costlier than hot water CIP.

One more thing is that ozone decomposes faster at temperature 35 degree C, and also depends on impurities present in water, more the impurities faster the decomposition of ozone.

Hi Glenn,

I have no direct experience but sanitation-wise, seems to have been most frequently implemented in CIP-type systems.

Some claimed "pros" are in following attachments, predictably, no "cons" are mentioned ! -

I worked in a surimi (fish paste) factory that used ozonated water to continuously drip onto conveyor belts. Because it was a seasonal operation, they did only quick wash downs and sanitizing at break times and would stop every few days for full cleanup. After adding the ozone we were able to extend the time between cleanups by 2 days (based on daily bacteria counts).

Thank you all and sorry for delay in thank you both.

Working at a plant right now that seems to have the thinking that installing a $50,000 Ozonator machine and spraying the ozone treated water directly into fish fillets is eliminating bacteria.... oh, yeah this is getting interesting!
