Our company provided food packaging service. All the material/ingredient are client-supplied. So there are hundreds of raw materials processed through us, even more than thousand.

According to FSMS 8.5.1.2 requirement, all raw materials need to maintain documented information including  a)~i).

This is bothering me because our raw materials are various. And some raw materials are only packaged once. Do I still need to create a file for all hundreds of raw materials?

Hi,

Yes IMO this is mandatory, I hope you have specifications for all your raw materials, this will cover part of your raw material characteristics, other points like Method of production, source, place of origin, composition can be compiled in one excel file.

 

Or else all you can do is make an excel sheet with all the raw materials in the first column and all 9 (a to i) characteristic of raw materials in the subsequent columns.

 

For other characteristic of raw materials you better contact your client, they may provide you.
