Dear Mohamed

Salam

Sales department is a driving force for any business. most sales staff promise the earth to customers to provide products which customers needs

In doing so some time they agree to provide a product which is out of agreed specification with the customers at reduced price. If the offered product/s is not safe or will become an safe in short period of time then it can have serious consequences for the business.

This is one of the many ways sales department can compromise food safety. That is why all quality management systems insist of having Management statement, a commitment from top management that all departments will adhere to the requirement of quality systems

Kind regards

Dr Humaid Khan

Agreed & this is precisely why all product specifications need to be supplied on .pdf format so no unauthorised changes can be made.

If it weren't for sales we wouldn't have a business but it is important that sales colleagues take advice of the technical/quality function with respect to product standards & quality as there is no point promising a customer something that cannot realistically be supplied.

For new business I would always encourage the quality function at the supplier to contact the quality function at the customer to discuss the customer's specific requirements and determine how they can be met.
