Hello Mutturaj,

Could you add so extra information please - are you implementing BRC Food Safety? Or do you want to print out and frame documents of compliance for each clause of BRC possible? (you would need a big wall)

Hi Mutturaj,

May I ask why ?

If you are seeking a complete "solution" to BRC Code's textual requirements maybe try -

Hello Mutturaj,

Try making an account at BRC Participate. As a certified company, we have free access to all documents that are uploaded there, starting from the standard and implementation guideline, to other specific guidelines on traceability, glass control, root cause analyses, etc. BRC participate is now free for use, but until last year we had to pay something like 100 pounds/year for a subscription, which in my opinion is worth it (we pay 100 euro/hour consultancy)

I assume that your company is not a complete new one, so then it means you already have a quality manual, HACCP plan, etc. You just have to adjust that one to BRC and add several paragraphs to them. But I don't understand why do you have to frame documents for each clause. I only have a few documents (like 20) hanging around in the building. These are the company policy, hygiene rules, deputisation of responsibilities, working instructions (on each machine that is handled by an operator), CCP/CP, maps. And all forms that need to be filled in are available on tables or on clipboards at the employees responsible to fill them in.  You can put in a map several procedures and give it to a manager who has to know that information, but then you have to keep in mind that whenever you update a procedure/instruction, you have to also replace the paper that is displayed in the company. But there are also many requirements that you can combine on one instruction. Like on the one for personal hygiene the rules about jewellery, washing hands, working clothes, eating, drinking, smoking, cover of hair, use of plaster, informing what to do at diseases, when they see non-conformities, pests, unknown people.

The thing is, developing packages takes time and that has a cost.

The amount of general advice and information available for free, via the forums, is quite exceptional - it's a testament to the nature of all of the members of the site that they are willing to donate their time and expertise just to help people out. Extending that to development of a full certification package for free would be an unreasonably large task!

In terms of the standard itself, you've presumably already downloaded a copy (available for free from the BRC Bookshop website) and started reviewing this. Of particular note in the context of your question is e.g. clause 1.1.7: The company's senior management shall provide the human and financial resources required to produce food safely and in compliance with the requirements of this Standard.

It may therefore be necessary to have a discussion with the owners / board of directors / senior management at your company to help them understand that there will be a cost to implementing any of the GFSI-benchmarked certification standards. Hopefully they will see this as an investment in their business - it should pay for itself via improved sales opportunities, fewer complaints/recalls, more efficient operation etc.

Theoretically they should also be supportive of the principle simply for the objective of making safe food - see the "fundamental" requirement at the start of section 1 of the standard.
