Hi

Is it a legal requirement to list a products' allergens on a website or just beneficial? The packaging lists the allergens so I believe this is sufficient and therefore the website doesnt legally need display them. Is the correct?

Thanks

Assuming this is for the UK market - If the product is being sold through the website then yes, you would be obliged to include this information as would be the case for the physical labels on the product. The correct physical labels are also required to be present on the product at point of delivery, so the requirements certainly don't cancel each other out. See Article 14 of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011.

For what it's worth the actual adoption in practice of this requirement seems to be very variable, and the internet is so vast that the regulators either aren't looking into it or are simply swamped (and are definitely under-resourced) to the extent that they just don't stand a chance of keeping on top of it.

It depends if you only sell the product in a physical shop or if you also sell it online.  If it's the latter, the outlet through which you sell the product must have all that information easily available at point of sale.
