I'm just running through all the clauses before my pending audit and I'm really unclear on the new clause in traceability:

'Traceability of test data and samples to production lots shall be maintained'

What does this mean?  We make cardboard and convert to food packaging.

 

Is this related to the traceabiltiy test?

Broadly this is saying that you need to be able to link any samples and analytical results with the production batch to which they relate.

Where testing is carried out-of-line, it is essential that the site is able to identify the production batches or lots from which the testing samples have originated. This ensures that results are linked to the correct batch and assists the site in validating its ongoing product quality result.

Any in-process checks and QC/QA tests on materials/WIPs/Products have to take part in the traceability.

We are SQF Manufacture of Food Packaging, a carton manufacturer. Given that it's in the traceability section, it looks like this is in the event that if you send samples out, there needs to be a way to identify them through that process for traceability then any results from tests need to be easily related to the correct samples and kept with all other traceability data. I am not familiar with this code but this is likely linked to record keeping / documentation requirements elsewhere in the code.
