https://store.chipki...ic-thermometers

Start here - most ice companies I've been to use Bimetallic's (metal coil) for both direct contact with ice and in their freezer (wall mounts, etc.)

Not really , we wanted to check on cold room  and truck temperature too. Wondering infra-red type suitable for use?

IR measure surface temps but, afaik (never used one), typically less accurate than thermocouples although portable/convenient. I'm unsure as to low temperature capability.

.

Assuming you only want one fixed point, post 2 are most common in cold rooms (relatively cheap). If want portable then thermocouple.

If want multi-point fixed/recording in cold rooms or truck, data logger (thermocouple) normally used.

Kind Regards,

No fixed point to be measure, sometime lorry or cold room,  preferably portable
