Hi everyone,

Due to corona virus outbreak we can not perform our SQF audit and I need to communicate our CB for extension of the certificate.

Does anyone could help me what should be the formal statement or reasonable explanation for CB to accept the extension?

I would appreciate your help.

We had to submit a risk assessment to the certification body and provide a letterhead document from our executive management on the vendor/contractor restrictions into our facility.  This was accepted and we extended the audit out 90 days from the certificate expiration date.  We were also issued a new certificate with the extended date listed.    Get in touch with your certification body and start the conversation with them, they are also there to help you through this process.  That is another reason you pay them the big bucks for their services annually.

Good luck!

We requested for a SQF extension as well. We contacted CB and they requested a Risk Assessment to fill out.

Just contact them and tell them its due to COVID-19.

Thank you for the reply and file. what should I explain or could be the causes as we are unable to conduct the audit?

Your welcome! This is what I sent the CB:

This is what I emailed them to request it at the beginning:

We are currently closed and have been closed for about a month now and do not know till when we will continue being closed. With that being said, we will not be fully able to move forward with our scheduled SQF audit at this time, and would like to request an extension.

This is what I filled out in their risk assessment:

The plant may be still closed. If the plant will not be closed, we will not be having all operations running. Also, one of our corrective actions for the pandemic is to prohibit any outside visitors from entering plant, to protect employee health and safety.

Hope it helps :)
