hello,

I am getting ready for an sqf audit and we need environmental testing to pass this audit. I am about to purchase the following and I want to be sure that this is what we need and all that we will need for this portion of the audits requirements:

Firstly, I think you will need a Procedure.

What does your policy say - don't want to put cart before the horse.

What does your policy say - don't want to put cart before the horse.we are taking swabs/samples on all our work tables, machine rollers, gives and aprons, scales, pallet covers, dollies etc. and looking for cyclospora, e coli, HAV, Listeria, salmonella, coliform, enterococcus app and molds. We are a packaging film supplier.

I tried to edit my posting, but it did not work out ---

Before you go out and buy all this stuff and considering that your company is a packaging company, please re-read 2.4.8 -- are there known or expected concerns in this area?

I will tell you why I ask, if you have done a risk analysis in this area and NO issues ever, it would appear that none are expected, unless of course you make some kind of major changes, etc.

If that is the case and one of our clients is a packaging company - get your company exempted, save some money.

Firstly, I think you will need a Procedure.

the procedure is written a bit of it is as follows: we are taking swabs/samples on all our work tables, machine rollers, gives and aprons, scales, pallet covers, dollies etc. and looking for cyclospora, e coli, HAV, Listeria, salmonella, coliform, enterococcus app and molds. We are a packaging film supplier.

I just need guidance on what kits to buy and what solution/solutions we would need as a packaging film supplier.

Are you a producer of packaging or a distributor of packaging that is already fabricated and at base cut, fold, etc. But don't actually make the packaging?

I have re-read and I do think it is best that we monitor for microbial factors. With that said are those the kits and solutions I would need to achieve this?

we are a producer of packaging. We print the film with a full color process etc. But the film we outsource and buy it plain on a roll stock.

As per comments SQF Consultant, you first need a Procedure to risk assess in the context of SQF requirements and previous threads here. And maybe Regulatory ?

I am curious how you determined yr micro. list above ? Offhand appears a mega overkill but maybe there is some particular reason in USA/yr product category.

As Charles mentions and I initialy thought but didn't say... overkill.

I would highly recommend you do a risk analysis. From what you do (as you explained) it would appear that your company could forego wasting thousands of dollars on this stuff and either greatly cut down or eliminate the expense entirely.
