Is it preferred to contact the external auditor for assistance in transitioning?

Also I have had proposals and plans on transitioning sent to my superior but it has been asked to be "parked aside" for when the auditor comes along in

November, 2020 for the surveillance audit to have a look at and then assist us to transition.

So far, we have not moved or done anything to show our commitment to transition but in word of mouth. I think that from November to June we will be put under pressure to transition - is this ample time. That is why I am asking if I can seek assistance from the auditor?

IFSQN offer expert consultancy on ISO 22000 transition through our e-consultancy service.  Support is provided by skype and email as you need it and therefore costs are much lower than having a consultant on-site.  You can find more details here:

You asked about a consultant in the subject line and then asked if an Auditor should do this.

It would be a consultant that you are seeking for assistance and there a several on here thar I imagine will chime in, that will not include us as we don't handle the ISO.

As to your time frame, it is not realistic to do all the things that need to be done in order to get certified and that includes any needed capital and operational changes/investments and your implementation.

We, for instance are doing developments for clients and fast tracking them for audits to begin in Nov and dec.

If by chance you mean nov to june of next year that's doable but of course depends on how much work you havevto do and of course commitment from seniors/ owners.

I changed the topic title Glenn.

It's part of the general housekeeping I do to make topics more clear.

To my understanding, an auditor is prevented from consulting for the company he is auditing are they not?

OK - for clarification: The auditor performing their re-certification audit is not allowed to formally offer consultation unless he is hired specifically to do so but never while performing an audit. I believe this is what the original post meant by "external auditor".

His company can request a consultant from their auditing body but that person can't be the person actually performing the (at least next) re-certification audit.

Just curious, when did CB'S begin practicing colusion by providing the consultant and the auditor?

Our CB offers consultation and training services but they are different "divisions" of the company. The auditors do not consult and vice-versa. I guess if they demonstrate a separation of functions SQF deems it acceptable.

I find that to be dirty and as I have found the complete opposite in related businesses, where I was a consultant for one company and an Auditor for another - in both cases the two sides or divisions talk to each other and it can taint the audit.

Yes that's how they do it to prevent conflict of interest, whilst making $$$.
