Hi

Please see ingredients below.... This is Organic feed brought into a food factory, stored outside however I am under the impression due to the ingredients this should be treated as an allergen.

I would appreciate your comments on this and reasons why

Thanks

Ingredients: EU/Non EU Organic Wheat, Non EU Organic Sunflower Expeller, EU Organic Oatmeal & Oat by product, EU Organic Oats, EU Organic Rapeseed Exp, Limestone Flour, Sodium Chloride, Non EU Organic Soya Expeller, Magnesium Oxide

Yes, multiple allergens.

First time I have seen Limestone Flour! Interesting.

Limestone flour = Calcium Carbonate, that's for animals, supplementary source of Calcium. Never heard of that name either...

You're in the UK from memory, Astro?
If so, the Wheat, Oats, and Soy are all on the EU allergen list, so you need to plan around these in terms of the potential cross-contamination risk for the food products you have on site.

Thank you, yes, I thought I knew the ingredients, considering what we do, but this one tossed me for a loop.

Thank you all for your comments you have echoed my thoughts.

That is what I have said to the business and they looked at me like I was an alien

-- you know it's funny how that happens - the alien thing, we find ourselves as consultants getting paid for what we do and then when I tell upper management or the owner of a food company they need to do such and such - they look at me like I'm some kind a whack-o.  Case in point, I recently informed a food company president they needed to immediately stop doing something that could injure their own employees and that the company would be seeing lawsuits soon if they did not stop the practice - they pretty much laughed at me and said good day.

They continued to do what they were doing and last week the first injury lawsuit was sent to them by an attorney representing a group of employees.

Business owners and upper management "think" they can do all sorts of things and if they fail to listen to their QA people and consultants that are brought onboard they set themselves up for a fall.

Keep on doing what you do, you have good purpose.

Maybe off in the weeds, but depending on your jurisdiction and scope of certifications, I would also look at your storage conditions.  If you are truly storing this "outside", is it in a protected and sheltered area away from potential pest/environmental contamination?

HI

Yes stored outside but is handled by staff who would feed the animals which then potentially cross contaminate

Interesting.  I assumed you were bringing in the feed for resale, but seems as though you must be vertically integrated?
