Developing a Good Product Inspection Culture

Took Place:
Friday, November 13, 2020.

Presenter:
Robert Rogers, Senior Advisor Food Safety & Regulation, Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Division

Webinar Overview:

Many organizations have made significant investments in Product Inspection solutions, the value of this investment can be quickly lost without a good culture. Product Inspection Culture does not happen by accident and if it does you are taking a huge risk. Just as important as the implementation of inspection devices themselves, implementation of a good Product Inspection Culture with your people and processes can have a large impact on the success of your Product Inspection Program. We will discuss why the culture is so important and provide examples of both good and bad practices.

Ana Medina Colunga : Hola desde México
Bess Atienza : Hello from Long beach, CA
Béatrice RALIJERSON : Hello from Madagascar
Mohd Hafizuddin Razale : Hello from Malaysia! Stay safe 😷
Dennis Reyes : What xray specifications can you recommend to detect hair strand in food sample.
Sook Ling Chua : Hi, does water trigger metal detector alarm?
Zacarias Manotas : how often the operation of the magnets should be validated?
Bruce Perkin : What is your recommendation for foreign object detection when the pack format is metaled?
Sujoy Mitra : Hi This is Sujoy Mitra form Bangladesh
Bruce Perkin : Metaled?
Rebecca Ko Din : Rebecca From Toronto
Bruce Perkin : Spell check - should be "metalized"
Iryna Dyachenko : How effective are corrective actions if the chipped friction generated metals are found in the Mixer & Grinder? How these repetitive corrective actions have to be considered during the Trend Analysis for improvement purpose?
Dilanka Ranasinghe : Can metal detectors use for identification of heavy metals? Do they give a numerical output such as concentration of heavy metals in a particular product?
Gail Nixon : If you decide have both a metal detector and Xray at packaging..what considerations would you make during your hazard analysis including placement of the systmes ie cereal
Martha Hartley : From the HACCP point of view, then tolerances are closely  linked to the capability of the detector and when there is a problem, the course of action is an immediate analysis of the problem before re-starting the line.
Martha Hartley : Is X-ray recommended to detect the rot core of products like potatoes, or stone fruits.
Iryna Dyachenko : How effective are corrective actions if the chipped friction generated metals are found in the Mixer & Grinder? How these repetitive corrective actions have to be considered during the Trend Analysis for improvement purpose?
Dalip Chhatwal : Dalip Chhatwal from India
simon timperley : Metal detector rejects: Is Root cause analysis necessary for every rejection?
Ansari Sana Usman : How we can avoid metal contamination in food products
Sook Ling Chua : Hi, during my internship period, ive worked for this company that uses metal detector to detect any metals contaminants in their meat products but after calibration, every time the meat passes through, the alarm got triggered but there isn't any metals found through physical inspection. However, not all meats trigger the alarm. We were still figuring out the reason behind this as we notice that when the packaging has some water droplets, the alarm starts to trigger
Ansari Sana Usman : On which basis(theory) Metal detector work
Sook Ling Chua : Does water trigger metal detector alarm?
Dilanka Ranasinghe : Can metal detectors use for identification of heavy metals? Do they give a numerical output such as concentration of heavy metals in a particular product?
Gina Bergman : Does Metler/Toledo offer services to evaluate a facility and it's raw material to do a suggestion of inspection equipment that COULD be utilized??
Ansari Sana Usman : Metal detector can't find contamination accept metal than which method should be preferable
poh lim : What is your comments against rejection count shown in the metal detector history? Some client justify they reconcile the metal detector rejection manually instead from the metal detector history.  Is this acceptable?
Dalip Chhatwal : How much size (minimum) of meatal detector can arrest the particles?
Ahmed Hassanien Sallam : What is the lowest size of physical hazards can be considered in risk assement in bakery product?
Ahmed Hassanien Sallam :
Benjie Luy : Good evenjng from Philippines
Justyna Lewandowska : How make a good validation of metal detector? What is iportant? How often schould we revalidated our metal detectors?
Leah Lykens : High moisture content like a Radish
Dilanka Ranasinghe : Can metal detectors use for identification of heavy metals? Do they give a numerical output such as concentration of heavy metals in a particular product?
Gwenyth Ballard : How sensitive to water activity are metal detectors?
Victoria Namatovu : Hello
Sook Ling Chua : If not fully frozen product will cause the alarm of metal detector, let's say for instance, a freshly packed packet of patty that isn't frozen completely, how can we ensure if the patty is free from metal contaminants? Is metal detector not suitable to be used?
Victoria Namatovu : Can I use a metal detector in a liquid sample?
Camila Brossi : how to solve the problem of meat production plants that have different types of cuts with different sizes and different consistencies, where all types of products must pass through a single detection line?
Leah Lykens : can you share a model you recommend for the small metal detector you just described?
Jamsheena Noushad : Metal detector can be consider as CCP in manufacturingcom...?
Jamsheena Noushad : What is your comment about metal detector as a CCP in a manufacturing company...?
Tanja Baker : In flour manufacturing, would you suggest both magnetic rods (on the exit of milling machine) and metal detector of packed flour?
Valerie Awua : what process of effective cleaning goes with the metal detector
Wayne Labs : What about dual-frequency metal detectors?
Pamela Brothers : We are packaging powdered food products. If we are calibrating the metal detector against the weight, vessel and product being run. Is it your recommendation that we open the parameters to reduce the risk of contamination?
Hasan Delikaya : Metal Detectors are more sensitive to Both Fe and, Non Fe. Why not to SS ??it is.not sensitive to SSo SS
Leah Lykens : Thank you!
Leah Lykens : I have to jump to a meeting unfortunately
cyril periappuram : Hi Simon: I have a query regarding the career path. I have been working in the nutraceutical industry for the last 5years. I do not have any formal education in this field. As a QA r I operate the facility based on the learn as I go method.  As of now I do know the GMP principles, HACCP, CCP and labeling regulatory requirements. I am wondering if I wish to further my career what kind of certification would you suggest me to attend. I would appreciate your feed  back.  Thank you so much. Cyril@medicap.ca
Su Myat : In incoming material inspection, what should we do if we didn't get COA from supplier?
simon timperley : Cyril please ask on our forum www.ifsqn.com/forum
Valerie Awua : Names cannot be added to the certificate
Albert Espinoza Espinoza : For Cyril, have you completed PCQI - Preventive Controls Qualified Individual,  the knowledge and awareness for compliance with FSMA related requirements. Suggested training for your career path.
simon timperley : Add your own name Valerie
