Hello to all food safety heroes out there! I was asked from the owner of a food processing company if he has the obligation to print the logo of the certification body in his packaging materials (1st packaging). During his recent re-certification the auditor insisted in writting down as a minor non-conformance the fact that the company hadn't printed the certification body's logo there (in the 1st packaging). I asked to see the contract with the certification body (the use of logos section specifically). There was no written obligation.

I asked the owner to talk with the auditor and ask her the source/base of her thinking. As far as I am concerned there is no such requirement written or implied in the standard. Have you ever came face to face with such an experience? Thank you in advance for your answers. I wish you all the best!  Vasilis

Hi Vasilis; We're also FSSC certified. I've had the same question from my auditors every audit, and my only reply was that we don't have FSSC logo on our product labels, but on all product specifications. That answer has always been satisfying with no further comments.

Fight fight fight this one

That is NOT terms of the audit and out of your scope.

That would be a purely business decision----and had it been made, you would have been told and been able to provide copies of the agreement

Otherwise fight this one to the bitter end

Was through 2 massive FSSC audits and this never came up (nor was the logo used on anything)

not a requirement, miss-call by auditor.

go over the auditors head and contact the cb direct to challenge finding.

The only way this could possibly be a minor non-conformance is if you have a policy written where you state the logo is used.  But even then...it is a stretch to give you a minor NC for it.
