Looking for a bit of guidance on visitor and contractor policies / rules in a production and storage facility. In addition to this how are medicines, mobile phones and personal items are controlled?

Many thanks

It does depend on the facility, but that said, if you ae running a food production facility, generally, you need to keep personal items off the floor. We do not allow call phones, personal electronic devices, lunches, unworn clothing, or anything in upper pockets.

At my joint:

Visitors must sign in.   Contractors as well.   Any contractor working in the production room must do so when we're not running production, and our manager does a checklist of all tools brought in, etc.  Cleaning SOP's run after they go, swabs, depending on what they were working on.  (this one is pretty simple for us, we handle most everything ourselves other than major repairs, which are very rare).

We have a locker room and uniforms.   When you get here you change into your uniform, and you may not have absolutely anything in your pockets on the floor.  Everything is to be left in your locker.

ACK my spelling!  LOL I didn't take a good look at this.  Also Contractors must be accompanied by one of our employees.

I second all this and add that we require all visitors, contractors etc to wear a different colored hairnet than the rest of the employees (red in our case) so that if employees see someone they don't recognize and they don't have a red hairnet,  then it's a red flag that maybe that person shouldn't be in our facility.

All visitors sign in agreeing to our GMP policy and rules (posted next to the sign in log) who they are here to see, reason for visit, arrival and departure time. "Regular" visitors must be accompanied by their "host" and wear a Visitor badge (right now stickers due to covid). Contractors sign in is the same but they are issued an optic green safety vest (they may supply their own but has to bee the green) sign how long they will be in the plant (multiple days) signify whether they have brought tools into the facility then are taken to the area they will work in and allowed to perform their repairs / duties. Medications are not allowed by visitors unless ordered by doctor. They may have cell phones, tablets and laptops as they are usually necessary for their purpose here and therefor considered tools.
