I feel as though I would be "food grade."  I eat well and exercise.  Years of sarcasm may make me a bit bitter tasting though.  I was going to search up a chart online but I am pretty sure my company internet search filters will flag me for a mental health review pretty quickly.

Isn't this how we came about mad cow disease - Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy?  Cows eating cows?  Scary stuff... 

Mad cows disease is caused by prions (protein) which houses in the central nervous system (brain, spine).
The problem wasn't cows eating cow. It was cows eating cow brain, and then humans eating the brains of those brain-eating cows. Sounds much better...right?

Zombie apocalypses no thanks!   Watching the movie Alive 30+ years ago was enough for me

On a tangent here but this posting made me think of two books I recently read that both made me go down the Google rabbit hole of cannibalism regulations...

 

"Tender is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica 

A short sci-fi read about cannibalism. Was very interesting since it did go into a bit of detail about separating humans based on their "grade", as well as some other food safety related mentions.

 

"The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair

A classic read with lots of food safety related problems, but also goes into details about the conditions and life of a meat-packer worker. Read this one for a class I'm taking and wanted to write about the meat being adultered through the addition of workers and worker parts, but I had trouble finding information about current regulations on cannibalism.

 

Curious to see if anyone else has read these! Always open to book recommendations, especially ones related to work!

The Jungle is what lead to many changes in the food industry - the whistle blower. Nellie Bly - another whistle blower but different industry.

 

Temple Grandin has written some things about treating animals humanely. Her back story is interesting as well.
