Practical steps for risk assessing Suppliers and Products within your supply chain

Taking Place:
Friday, May 20, 2022

Presenter:
Chris Domenico, Territory Manager, North America, Safefood 360°

Webinar Overview:
Understanding how to determine the right criteria to apply when performing risk assessment of your suppliers and their products can be a challenge to even well-resourced businesses. When determining what risks should be accounted for in their supply chain, assessors need to understand the two fundamental sources at play and what drives the greatest level of risk.

Failure to do so means potential risks can lead to food safety and quality failures which can damage a brands reputation and other stakeholders that rely upon them.

This webinar will take a practical look on how to identify the right criteria when building a model that fits the needs of your business and allows you to move from a matrix-based to criteria-based approach when conducting risk assessments.

Bonita RUSSELL : When trying to put "numbers" for risk values, can you give some guidelines?
Giulia Grande : Is there an example of a survey /form/risk assessment to evaluate suppliers?
Norel de Leon : for US vendors with suppliers/manufacturers overseas (China), what other kind of documentation can we ask from them? we already get the COA from the manufacturer and the self-assessment survey from the us distributor.
Joy Mimiko : His having a scorecard a requiment ?
Barbara Colquhoun : Theres a big difference in the country of origin and country of manufacture.  UK is the CoM for us but the CoO is Malaysia for example.
JOANE DEVES : What are the important documentation on risk assessment of suppliers that is required by the GFSI?
robert brown : Having a strong procurement team to develop a good relationship with suppliers lessens risk .
Diana Campero : Hi Barbara, that might be depending on your location. In Canada the last country where a transformation occurred is considered the country of Origin, so if the raw material came from UK but was processed in Malaysia, the COO if Malaysia
sananda chakravarty : For packaging materials, what are the certification you should look for to avoid any risk of contamination
Bonita RUSSELL : We often have to answer Not applicable with standard questionnaires.  This can be extremely frustrating to ingredient manufacturers.
gillian epule : since food supply chain is a global issue when is the industry going to have a one stop supply risk assessment portal? Is there any developed by the big  technical/food consultancy companies
sananda chakravarty : Any upcoming conference on Nutraceuticals
Tavia Gooden : Not sure if this applies, but you had mention the risk of vendors, would you consider them when doing your risk register?
