We are a small low risk SQF certified facility that takes care or the laundering of our smocks in house. Is there any requirements that say we must use food grade detergent or is regular non scented detergent acceptable?

The type of detergent isn't important (although unscented and allergen free is)

You may need to validate your laundry process (water temp, colony reduction/lack of colonies on the smocks etc)  and you may not since you're low risk....

Do you NEED smocks?????

We're low risk, and our uniform policy is company issued t-shirts that are laundered at home

Yes, to all Scampi says, plus an SDS and a laundry SOP are necessary.  It should be on your approved chemical list.  Also, if you use bleach in your laundry, Clorox has one bleach that is approved for food contact use and mentions laundry in its approved uses as well.  The NSF approval letter is nice to have as well.

We do our own laundry and are considered low risk.  I have worked in a slightly higher risk (not very high risk) facility that did their own laundry, and it passed SQF audits as well.
