Hello all, we had a question come up that we are considering. We have a policy that employees must hang up their outer jacket before using the restroom, eating food, drinking beverages, and going outside. However, for other company-provided clothing--the shirt that's under that jacket, mainly--do you allow employees to wear those out of the building on their breaks?

We have a risk analysis for clothing and hair, but it is not that detailed when it comes to clothing.

We are regulated in the United States under 21 CFR Part 111 and 117 and we have SQF and NSF GMP certifications.

Thank you,

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

The degree to which protective clothing is controlled is dependent on the operation and risk to product.

A greater degree of control is required with open products and RTE products.

It sounds like that the outer jacket is the main item of protective clothing provided and that should be worn in product areas and removed when leaving product areas.

A shirt under that jacket would be just like normal clothing and the outer jacket would protect the product from any contamination on that shirt? If so, I don't see why you would stop people from wearing the shirts elsewhere on site or outside.

Kind regards,

Tony
