Hey guys and gals!

Happy Friday Eve, I hope you all are well, and if not, I hope your weekend plans get you right.

In regards to the type of equipment used for Housekeeping, does anyone else find the standard (BRCG Issue 9 S&D) extremely vague? im having doubts about the brooms im currently using, mostly because the standard says to use plastic squeegee type, so...

What kind of brooms do you use for your facilities?

Hi 7Zero2,

There is less risk with S&D operations so the standard is not as specific as for food manufacturing.

I tend to use specific color coded cleaning equipment, examples here:

Also bear in mind having dedicated cleaning equipment for glass/brittle material breakages (some sites have an emergency kit for this).

There is also the management of allergen spills in the BRCGS S&D standard where best practice is to have dedicated cleaning equipment or ensure the equipment has a thorough clean after use to ensure any allergen residue has been removed.

Kind regards,

Tony
