I’m hoping to get some guidance from the experienced auditors and SQF professionals on this forum. I am currently a QA Manager based in Canada with about 10 years of experience in the food industry, and my professional goal is to become a registered SQF Food Safety Auditor.
While reviewing the official SQFI auditor qualifications, I’ve hit a roadblock trying to actually locate the specific courses they mandate. The SQFI criteria list the following training pathways:For those who have gone through this registration process recently, I have a few questions:
Training
-
Successfully complete “Auditing SQF Systems” 4 day training course. OR
-
“Management System Lead Auditor” 40 hour training course AND the “Auditing SQF Systems” 3 day training course (2012 or later). OR
-
“Management System Lead Auditor” 40 hour training course AND the “Auditing the SQF Code Requirements” virtual training (certificate date prior to April 28, 2022). OR
-
“Auditing the SQF Code Requirements” virtual training (certificate date of April 28, 2022, or later).
-
Where can I find the “Auditing SQF Systems” course? I haven't been able to find this specific 4-day course offered anywhere by the standard training bodies. Has it been phased out or renamed?
-
Should I start with the 40-hour Lead Auditor course? If the SQF-specific 4-day course is hard to find, should I begin by taking a standard 40-hour “Management System Lead Auditor” course? If so, are there specific training providers you recommend?
-
The "Auditing the SQF Code Requirements" virtual training: I see this listed as the newest option. Has anyone taken this specific virtual route directly through SQFI to satisfy the requirement?
I want to ensure I am investing in the correct, most recognized sequence of steps to get registered. Any links to current courses or advice on the most straightforward path would be incredibly helpful.
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise,
