Will first audits under SQF10 be announced, even if our next audit would be unannounced under SQF9?

No, they will not be making an exception for that.

Hi Jimimacintire,

This is from Edition 10 Frequently Asked Questions

How will unannounced audits fit into Edition 10?

Answer: The unannounced audit requirement has not changed. The three-year timeframe is not disrupted by the release of Edition 10. Contact your Certification Body to understand which audit cycle your unannounced audit is in.

Kind regards,

Tony

Having worked in a company who did announced, I was always confused why so many people feared unannounced (my previous company had been on the fully unannounced scheme for years). Just get ahead of the changes before your audit window opens. That's what companies on the fully unannounced schemes will do.

I agree.  I've never minded unannounced audits.   If you're doing what you say you're doing, what's the difference?

This is my first year of SQF.    Getting popped in February for my initiation.   Hopefully they don't make me ride a goat around the building or something.   In college I had to run around a house party naked once because I got skunked at foosball....

It didn't look to me like there was a ton of changes between 9 and 10, no?

There are enough to be sure

The food safety assessment plan is fairly substantial IMHO

There is also a change to scoring.......that is absolutely worth noting--it won't change your plan, but it may change how beefy you feel some areas should be

Yeahhhhh, this is the one big pita imho.   I am actually just getting ready to dive into this full bore, my last SQF item to be ready.    I've done a little setup work, but that's all.

Thanks for the info. I don't mind unannounced, audit ready everyday is our goal. I work out of two locations so the question was to help me figure out how to schedule my time.
