Hello everyone, this is my first post here.
We recently completed an SQF pre-assessment, and one of the auditor’s suggestions was that we should have documented training for our Environmental Monitoring Program.
For context, we are a very small company, and our quality team consists of myself and our backup SQF Practitioner. We both have several years of industry experience, and we developed our EMP procedure and policy.
My question is: for SQF purposes, does EMP training need to be formal external training with a certificate, such as training provided by a lab or outside provider? Or would it generally be acceptable to document internal training by having the SQF Practitioner and backup practitioner review and sign off on our EMP SOP, policy, sampling procedures?
I understand that training should be documented and demonstrate competency, but I’m trying to determine whether SQF typically expects certificate based training or if a documented internal training record is sufficient.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
