This doesn't exactly fit under SQF packaging, but I couldn't find a better spot and maybe some SQF certified packagers can give me some tips.
Our ownership (against my strong suggestion) is looking to purchase some plastic jars from a country I've always been told has questionable testing. My question is this:
- What testing should I be looking to send these jars out for to verify they are food safe
- Why (regulatory? Known issue? Etc)
I still plan on following our supplier approval for food contact packaging, which includes a chemical migration statement, certificate of conformance to food grade standards, and CLOG among other things. I just feel with the risk with products out of this country I want to have my own testing done to verify what we're purchasing meets food grade standards, particularly for chemical migration.
