Hi Everyone,

An urgent update from BRCGS for all audits conducted from 10 August 2026.

From BRCGS: Important update – New position statement for BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7

'We have published a new Position Statement (P708) for Packaging Materials Issue 7 as part of the alignment with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Benchmarking Requirements 2024. The Position Statement introduces a number of updates to ensure continued alignment with the latest benchmarking requirements and industry expectations.

The Position Statement is effective for all audits conducted from 10 August 2026, allowing a transition period for certificated sites to review and implement the changes before they are assessed during audit.'

There is a video explaining the changes, not sure why it takes nearly 9 minutes to explain the changes so I’ve posted them below.

BRCGS Global Standard Packaging Materials, Issue 7 P708: Position Statements for Issue 7 Effective from 10 August 2026

Position Statement 1 - Updated clauses to align with the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements v 2024.

Clause 4.4 Site security and product defence Clause 4.4.1

Additional Requirements:

Where personnel are engaged in threat assessments and product defence plans, the individual or team responsible shall be appropriately trained (clause 6.1).

Clause 4.8 Housekeeping and cleaning

Additional Requirements underlined:

Cleaning and where appropriate disinfection procedures shall be in place implemented

The procedures shall be implemented to ensure that appropriate standards of cleaning are achieved, validated and verified based on risks of the intended use of the finished product or activity.

Regards,

Tony
