Wanting to make a little guide to help people purchase, store and prepare fresh produce purchased from a farmer markets. This is a general guide and is made for the public. essentially. These folks arent really trained in food safety, so I have to make it simply. Except from regulatory laws, so I want to find a middle ground. Not really a control point, i guess but more prevenative. Any suggestions, flow chart, paragraphs, anything would be helpful.

This is kind of a cool idea, but doesn't it all just boil down to 'wash it really good just before prep'?

Yes, thats a start. Initially, thats sort of what I believe. But, being out in the field. I see a bigger need.. I was at a site and a woman was so excited to have purchased produce ... Most of it was bruised, and damaged. Her idea was that, washing it made everything ok. I dont want anyone to feel attacked or insulted but, there are people who need basic education.. I want to help. Offer the little bridge. Ive been an REHS for a long time but, my audience now, are more volunteers... Its a different ball game and I found out quick, from simple hygiene habits like handwashing, its not always a guarantee that they know how to.. If I do make one, or when I do, would you mind giving me some feedback?

Apologies, but this seems like a solution in search of a problem...

Hi Dv102,

:welcome:

Welcome to the IFSQN forums.

There might be some bits worth extracting from the WHO’s Five keys to safer food manual. There is also a manual for growing fruits and veg which may be of interest but not within your scope.

Kind regards,

Tony

Many of the university extensions have handouts available. Depending on the market - they may have a booth set up too.
