I am currently working on the GMPs.  Has anyone changed policy to include the wearing of smart watches IF they have a metal band and can be detected by the metal detectors?

No, sure haven't. I've had some employees claim 'but it's required by my X' and my response to HR has been to have a signed requirement from their health care provider stating they require it and we will look into moving them into a role where they are not in a GMP area.

It's a slippery slope allowing certain things and not allowing others. I've done it and regret it. I'd personally suggest sticking with the hard no on this one.

No watches regardless of type of band or dial facing - they are dirty buggers too.

No. Several reasons. It's not just the band that's the risk but the face and other components. It prevents effective washing of wrists which is part of your handwashing process. Also the slippery slope argument.

I'm not quite as fat as my picture would suggest. The camera adds pounds. Just how many cameras are on me?  :roflmao:

I've never met anyone who regularly washes and sanitizes their phone or watch.  Most are too lazy to even wash a flashlight.

The glass and silicon circuits are a 'no' even if they were clean.

On top of what everyone else said, this would also be an employee safety issue at most facilities where moving parts and belts are used.

Nobody likes getting their arm pulled into machinery!  :(

I've seen too many horror stories of people just -- never taking them off, and their wrists are so icky underneath.  no watches.

I don't let them call it a watch, I call it jewelry and we don't allow jewelry in production areas, which for us is anywhere that isn't a break area or office area. Absolute and hard NO for hygiene reasons alone
