Hello everyone!
Let me take a few minutes to introduce myself. I am 41, married with 2 children, living in Athens, Greece. I speak English French and Italian -so anyone who wishes to post me a reply in one of these languages is welcome. I have been working since 2003 as a quality supervisor (HACCP/ISO) in a company that imports to Greece various foodstuff from the Asian countries. Interesting but quite unknown to us which are used in the "Mediterranean" diet.
Needless to say that as a mother and also because of my job, I worry more and more when food quality is concerned. During the last 5 years I have seen a lot of evolution when food qualtiy is concerned and many people having the same concerns in my country. "You are what you eat", we say, and I believe that there is much truth is this phrase.
Last but not least, I wish to express my thanks to people who have thought of creating this site. Exchanging views and information makes us all feel more secure and - allow me to say, less lonely in this effort to create a better world for our children.

Hi Kelly, lovely to hear from you. We have members from all over the world, including France and Italy so you may well get to discuss in 'other than English' languages. I'd be happy to set up language specific forums if there was enough interest, the only concern being I would need the help of moderators to ensure the forums were kept clean of spam and other nasty business. Needless to say I only speak English. :oops:

Anyway welcome Kelly, feel free to join in the discussions. :welcome:

Hi Simon. Thank you for welcoming me. Your concerns are right about keeping the forums clean of spam and other nasty business, as we have seen a lot of trash around the Internet. I feel I should clarify what I meant when I said "discussions in other languages". You see, in the group that I work, sometimes we find it really difficult when things come to translating terms and specifications of quality matters, european law, food ingredients etc. I had this discussion with a friend who deals with exporting from Japan to Europe when I sent him the european regulation concerning the food additives. Many of these terms are greek words so what I really mean is that I'd be glad to help anyone who needs help with such matters. The only problem is that as a working mother I do not have a lot of available time, but in any case I'll be paying my visits as often as possible.
