If you take a look in the back of the Issue 1 of the BRC/IoP Packaging Standard there is a ‘Protocol Appendices'. The Protocol appendices provided information on ‘fields of evaluation' and the qualifications, training and experience required for evaluators, but this page has been completely removed from Issue 2.

I believe that at one time Evaluators had to take the Institute of Packaging EQIPT course. However, there is no mention of this course in the revised Standard.

There are some details under ‘Accreditation' in the ‘Introduction' regarding competence of evaluators and in 8.10.2 of the Evaluation protocol there is now mention of ‘the BRC Quality Mark' which it says can be included on a certificate when the evaluation has been undertaken by an evaluator trained by the BRC who has been issued with a BRC Third Party Auditor Certificate.

What happened to the Protocol Appendices?
Is the IoP EQIPT course still the required course for Evaluators?
Or has the BRC Third Party Auditor Certificate superseded it?
Do all Evaluators have to be trained? (Ref: BRC Quality Mark)
How do we find out which Evaluators have been trained and to what?
Why is there no information on either the BRC or IoP web sites?

Can anyone shed light on this?

Regards,
Simon

I've bumped this topic to give it another chance of a response. Is there anyone out there in the know who can provide some answers?

Simon
