We are trying to utilize a 42DE but the customer wants a value of 4kcal/gram. Is the conversion of this 3.4? So, would a 42DE yield 142.8 kcal/gram instead of 168kcal/gram?

Hmmm....is still has the same caloric density regardless of the DE level.  There may be differing digestive pathways, but overall calories should be the same regardless.
