I was also wondering what that meant - but hey, English is my second language. I like sophisticated words - like "reciprocate" or "unequivocal":)

One of my favorite longer words is discombobulated. Very useful. :ejut:

Honestly - never heard of this word. Checked now the translation - nice word, could be quite useful in our QA world, like: "Avoid discombobulating questions in employee training" OR "Your customer request discombobulate me"

Adjudicate is an awesome word and totally appropriate!

Have not heard it since music festivals of my childhood where we had to impress the "adjudicator" i.e. to judge

Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

We probably all try to add to our vocab when we can.

The one I added last month "superannuated."

I really love English for relatively "easy to pronounce" words. How about this, say, Greenland's volcano name - Eyjafjallajökull? Try to pronounce it, eh?

I worked in a facility surrounded by orchards of walnut, peaches, and almonds. One of the very beginning days when I started my job there, I get out of my office and there is a snake right outside my door curled up, head high ,looking me straight in the eyes. Fortunately, there were three steps outside my door and the snake was on the ground and not sliding in the stairs. I got scared and called my co-workers to see it.  They came really unbothered, told me it was common during the summer. Then the pest control staff came in, grabbed a stick and threw it back to the farm. Since then,  I had multiple encounters with snakes at work. I even drove on a snake in a freeway exit close to my office. Thought it was piece of rope, until I realized it moved and was a snake.

This story is not food safety related but California hot weather has made it really difficult for the reptiles.

Story  Time: I worked for a prune company. One of the funniest  review I received  for our product was from an old man. He appreicated that the prunes were the juiciest, freshest and the most tastiest of all the prune had all his life. He was very happy that prunes looks looked  just like how they would come out of the body and easy to eat for him.

"prunes looks looked  just like how they would come out of the body" - OMG, is this what I think? Or, it's my lack of understanding English? Please, correct me I'm wrong - or my bright imagination won't let me ever eat prunes!

Olenazh, I think you understood it exactly how the dear elderly customer meant it. Now, why the customer decided to use that as a description of things he appreciates is beyond me.

Hi all, after spending the day reading through all the stories and comments I've come to realise I cannot select the top three let alone rank the positions.  You are all awesome and have unique and varied stories so I'm proposing in the spirit of the forum we share the prizes between all those who interacted with this competition.  I'll only do this if there is a majority that agree.  So this would mean that the 17 members mentioned below would receive.

$25 amazon voucher and you all get a t/shirt.
Please send an email to team@ifsqn.com with your name and address and email.

If you are really against this proposal please say below or send me a message.
