Dear All,

Iam a Quality and Environment Lead Auditor working in Dubai - United Arab Emirates and planning for ISO 22000 L.A.

Recently a new flexible packaging manufacturer approached me for ISO 9001 and also requested in developing a HACCP and later to ISO 22000.

After reading several articles i understand first a GMP & GHP should be in place before HACCP.

Is there any specific GMP Standards? Or the manufacturer has to develop on his own?

Can any one help me please.

Regards

Stanley

Dear Stanley,

Yes there are standards, normally every country has its legislatory own.

For ISO 22000, read the introduction (eg pgs vi-vii) and para.7.2.3.

Then google "Codex Hygiene 2003" (minus the inverted commas).

Rgds / Charles.C

PS and if you are considering FSSC 22000, you will need a copy of PAS220 which prescriptively extends the PRP aspect of the ISO 22000 standard.

PPS ADDED - APOLOGIES, I MISREAD YR INITIAL POST AND THOUGHT YR QUERY WAS FOR FOOD PRODUCTION. ISO 22000 AS YOU IMPLY IS ALSO PRESUMABLY APPLICABLE TO PACKAGING MANUFACTURERS. NOT MY AREA BUT THERE MUST BE SOME MODEL ISO 22000 EQUIVALENT ANSWERS TO MINE HERE SOMEWHERE. ANYBODY ?? (I expect many of the basic hygiene requirements will be the same of course}.

Kind Regards,

Charles.C

Dear Stanly,

First suggestion is you search here for a free-to-download hygiene zip package uploaded by Simon who is "Mr Packaging" here. ( see PS below). This contains a model haccp plan and associated hygiene procedures for an earlier BRC/IOP version (probably 1 or 2) which is based on typical GMP requirements. Later versions added further requirements (inc. the HACCP scheme) which are also discussed in various places here (eg see the BRC/IOP section which has ver4 etc material). I am unsure if there is a specific set of procedures to later versions here in one location, probably not. However i am sure there are some (Gap lists) aka audit check lists which indicate the complete actual requirements.

Rgds / Charles.C

PS - The zip file is in this link -

http://www.ifsqn.com...indpost__p__220

PPS I hv deleted yr duplicate post in another thread. Seems you already know most of the above.

Kind Regards,

Since you are still doing research, I found the Food Safety Alliance for Packaging website helpful for understanding HACCP related to packaging products instead of actual food products. (www.foodsafetyallianceforpackaging.com) With our system, we struggled to understand how to identify hazards since we don't handle any food. Knowing which levels to implement the GMPs to was much easier after recognizing which hazards we could eliminate with basic GMPs like hand washing.

Hi,

I have been involved with a preform manufacturing company whose main customers (Coca Cola, Pepsi etc..) were demanding they implement a 'food' safety system.
They adopted the Codex Alimentarius Code of Hygiene Practices (2003) and HACCP, though both had to be appreciated with a twist given the packaging environment.

I found the following useful when I was doing my search too:
AIB International consolidated standards for inspections
PlasticsEurope (association of plastic manufacturers)- published GMP for food contact packaging
ILSI Europ Report Series on packaging materials

Having problems attaching multiple files. II have some files I will be glad to share should you still need them. Just e-mail and will send them to you
Cheers,
FOQUS

Dear Foqus,

Please explain your, i think, continuous problem to attach multiple files. Maybe the ADMIN can help.
AFAIK, the forum app works ok for everyone else (most of the time anyway). Is this a browser / poor local Internet / file size problem ?. I ask because I am sure other forum people would also like to see the files you refer.
