Good Morning all,

We are moving on with our HACCP Program, and we were looking in purchasing 12-20 scoops. Does anyone have a good descent price manufacturer, or distributor? Is plastic a good idea or should we just stick to SS?

To Ivan:

So far, we think that the suitable type of material for the food contact utensils/equipment should be: " made of materials which do not transmit toxic substances, odour/taste, free from pitting, cracks/crevices, resistant to corrosion and easily be reached for cleaning purpose".

So, plastic or SS?? As long as the materials comply to the above, I am sure you can make the best judgement now.

I'm not local to you but personally I would always prefer stainless steel, less prone to damage and abrasion. That said, stainless steel are expensive.

So if you have x-ray or metal detection equipment in place, I would always then chose metal detectable plastics as an alternative if you can't afford stainless.

This company is UK based: http://www.detectame...amet-scoops.htm but maybe they will have a US contact?

Just don't chose Aluminium thinking "ah well it's metal" because it is less easy to detect than steel, you can have some shockingly large pieces of aluminium which will just sail through a metal detector.

Even though costly, SS is a better option as it is easy to clean and santise. Once abrasions come on plastic scoops, cleaning and sanitation becomes tedious.

I agree with the others, stainless steel. Try Nelson Jameson.
