I am wondering if it is a food safety problem or just a functional problem. Any comments you guys? Thanks

Dear Jackson Tsang,

More info. required.

It may depend on the nature of the leak, eg oil, freon, ammonia ??

Does the "something" leak onto the ice ?

Where does the ice go ? Direct onto food (XYZ) ?

Rgds / Charles.C

Kind Regards,

Thanks Charles for the quick response. It seems just water leaked from the ice making unit, when view from the bottom.

The ice is for drink use.

Hi, Jackson;

Do you mean water runs through the evaporator and into ice storage?

It sounds like you have high water in your reservoir.  Either a defective float or perhaps it only needs adjustment.   If this is the case then it's a simple fix and not directly a food safety issue.

However, your ice machine should be cleaned regularly, and potability tested.

Dear Jackson Tsang,

It may be simple as per previous post.

It may also depend on where the water went before it exited. A climbing job for yr engineers IMEX. :smile:

I have been told that Listeria mono likes cold, wet environments.  So worst case scenario is that someone steps in the water and contaminates it.  Then the Listeria gets tracked throughout your plant by everyone who steps in the water.
