Our company name is going to change  due to merger with other company ,do we have to change all our iso manual .

our previous issue no was 02 , now if we fresh start with new manual what will be the issue number , I think that it should be 01 with rev date 00/xx/xy/yyyy where (xx= date of change) (xy = month of change),(yyyy= year of change). please suggest

To be honest, I think I would raise a concession regarding the company name change, as as I reviewed all of the documents change them then to say the new company name & revision number (starting at 1) rather that try and change everything at once.

Others might think differently

Hi Akhil.... Welcome to IFSQN!

If you have a policy of periodically reviewing your documents, you can issue a memo stating that "all current documents will retain their document numbers and revision statuses but will be subject to the new document numbering system upon review/ updating". This way you will not change all documents at once. Then too, with the new document numbering system, all documents should automatically be "Rev 0" - initial issue.

Regards.

Personally I would have changed all of the documents that way I don't forget later if there is a quick revision.

But this will seem hectic since the reason for changing the docs is just change of company name....what if you give the reason in the control

of documents record rather than change the revisions and date of issue in each and every document.......pls advice.

BENITO.

Any time a document is changed it should be updated as required in any document control program you have otherwise you aren't following the requirements of your own system in my opinion.

In one company I worked at Corporate changed all documents and sent them down to the plants.  In some revisions I couldn't even tell what was changed by reviewing both documents side to side.  Many times it was just a change in a signer of the document.

I specifically write in my document control procedure that the revision number is not required to be changed where a document is amended due to correcting a spelling/gramatical error, change of company name or other information that does not effect the actual procedural element of the document.

Dear All,

Of course, many people place a Company Logo at the top of their Procedures etc, etc.

Not changing the logo would appear to promote a certain confusion ?

And then doing nothing else would generate 2 different documents with the same rev. number. Hmmm.

IMEX the related info is usually in headers/footers. Surely not such a big issue to modify as per usage of documentation, eg as per post #3 ?

Hello all,

The surest thing you will do in your docs is you change your logo and possibly the signatories. IMO, your latest revision will be your fresh docs on that new entity. You have to re-print your docs anyway.

redfox
