In January 2015 we started out with a new schedule of weekly webinars.  If you haven’t seen any yet, they are live, one hour educational online training sessions delivered each week by a guest presenter.  Registered attendees receive the webinar recording, a copy of the PowerPoint presentation and a Certificate of Attendance; all of which are free of charge.

The 29 webinars we’ve hosted this year have been watched 36,000 times. 7,000 people attended live and 29,000 watched replays and recordings. It has been great fun and an overwhelming success!

The good news is Food Safety Fridays will continue in 2016 and at this point we are starting to think about the program for next year and this is where we need your help.

We’d like your feedback to help us shape and improve the program and experience for you.

If you have ideas or comments (positive or negative) on any aspect of the program related to the content, process, technology or other please do let us know in this topic.

Thanks,
Simon

I voted that I didn't know about them, but I did know, I just don't have the time to participate live. I do sometimes go back to a topic I was interested in and review the presentation and slides. Maybe add an option for that response?

Simon, I just have to say that I discovered the IFSQN website about 7 months ago and what a godsend it has been!  I was trying to get prepared for my initial SQF certification audit and had very little help in preparing to do so.  This site has really helped me in a lot of ways.  There are some very knowledgeable people on this site, most way more experienced than myself.  I am always reading my newsletters and exploring the forums.  What separates IFSQN from any other website is the professionalism in which the members conduct themselves.  As for Food Safety Fridays, I am ashamed to say I have not participated in one yet, for no other reason other than the summer months are peak season for us.  I absolutely plan on doing so from here on out, and would strongly approve of continuing these Friday webinars into 2016 and hopefully beyond.  After I get one under my belt, maybe I can contribute some feedback or ideas to help the program continue to get better and grow.  Thanks for everything, Tad.

I've downloaded the ones I signed up for but couldn't attend due to time constraints. My schedule is always free for that time until I sign up for the webinar. I'll have to start "cheating" and not signing up until the last minute.  :shades:

The few I've watched have been ridiculously helpful - as always, Simon, you and the rest of the team here at IFSQN never fail to exceed all expectations!

Simon,

You and the entire IFSQN crew have done tremendously well to provide these free webinars every week. it is amazing how you achieve this, sometimes in spite of some technical glitches. I sincerely commended you for that. I think I have attended more than ten live webinars and replayed close to that number as well. My only suggestion will be to consider making the recordings downloadable for replay offline please.

Thank you.

Aliyu

Thank you Aliyu for your comments.

Yes there have been some technical glitches, but considering we have run 29 webinars and less than a handful have experienced live problems it’s not too bad...though we are not happy about any glitches.

On the run up to each webinar I do test runs with the presenters to iron out problems.  The main issue is internet connection / speed.  As this is live video streaming then it is critical the presenter has a high speed connection and one or two presenters did not have it or are in areas where internet connection can suffer outages.  During the webinars some attendees have audio or video issues and usually it is due to their own internet connection or some settings with their browser or security that causes conflicts.

Despite these challenges we do ok, but still room for improvement.

Regarding downloadable I think you may be able to download the videos direct from youtube, but not entirely sure about it.

Regards,

Simon

Simon,

Suggestion for 2016. I'm not sure about others, but I am completely mystified by the FSMA. I know it is HACCP based, but beyond that, nothing. I know this is strictly a US initiative, but I believe there may be implications globally.

Wendy

Simon,

I've only discovered these recently and they are great!  It would be really helpful if the presentation slides were available to print out before the webinar starts as I'm sure a lot of people including me take notes during the webinar and to have it all in one place would be fantastic!

I would love to see webinars on packaging as I am in the Corrugated industry.

It would be great if I could print the 2015 slides for packaging as well.

Thanks,

Cindy

Hi Cindy, thanks for the feedback, that's a really good idea for note taking and for those with a poor internet connection who perhaps cannot see the slides so clearly on the live stream.  I will look into how we can do that.

We've had webinars on packaging in previous years, nothing planned 2016 though.  The slides for past webinars are all in the files library, but as you may know access is restricted.

Glad you're enjoying the webinars.

Simon

About a year ago I accepted my first position in the food industry and was hired to prepare our facility for a HACCP/GMP audit. Having no previous training, I enrolled and completed online courses for both HACCP and GMP. In preparing my team for the audit, I had many questions that simply were not addressed in the courses. I spent many hours googling various topics and discovered the IFSQN website; It has been by far my BEST resource, bar none. I have learned so much from the Friday webinars. Pretty soon, I will be able to paper the wall behind my desk with ISFQN certificates! But the best news . . . we passed our audit scoring a 99%!

Hi Simon,

I really enjoyed the webinar recording I just watched entitled, "Understanding the FDA Sanitary Transportation Regulations."

At the end you mentioned a certificate, which you would email. What's the best way to request one?

Thanks,

Mike Fisher
