Recommended height for catwalk kick plates

Does anybody have any recommendations on the height a kick plate should be on catwalks?

Yes, this is for catwalks/platforms around tanks. These catwalks are for the employee to be able to access the tanks. Since these are near production lines we would like to install kick plate to prevent contamination.

Kickplates that are installed for safety reasons are generally 4" tall, with a railing at 48" and a cross bar at 24"
