11.7.5 Control of Foreign Matter Contamination

Compliant?

Documents which prove compliance

Possible Secondary Responses

11.7.5.1 The responsibility and methods used to prevent foreign matter contamination of the product shall be documented, implemented and communicated to all staff

yes

Methods vs. Controls?

(M) Foreign material prevention methods are not developed

(M) Foreign material prevention controls are not implemented
(m) No responsibility for the prevention of foreign material have been defined
(m) Foreign material prevention controls are not communicated to staff

"Prevention Methods" and "Prevention Controls" seem to me to be the same thing. Does anyone have any advice?

PS: It's good to see the October 2016 SQF 8 edition finally arriving.

Hi Tadelong,

Not sure whether there is a specific context to yr query but offhand, semantically, IMO -

"Prevention control" is not "proper" written English. "Prevention method" could be.

ie what does "prevention control" actually mean ? Control of prevention ?  prevention of control ?

Try Googling each of them to see examples of their usage (or not).

PS - IMO none of the 4 sample sentences are fully correct English as written. Opinions may differ.

Kind Regards,

Re-reading the code and the nonconformance responses, I think that it is just a mistake on SQFi's part. One is for the documentation, the other for the implementation. Thanks, Charles.

Control - adjust to certain pH

     Method - Sanitization

Control - clean machine with bleach solution

          Control - steam clean machines

     Method - Pest Control

          Control - live bait stations

          Control - pesticide application

          Control - insect electrocution lights

Control - cover gaps and holes in walls, doors, loading docks, etc.
