Hi,

May I know if there is/are any certification/s that you have right now? if yes, you may refer exactly to the requirement stated on the specific standard that you are certified with.

If none, basically you just need to itemize in your checklist the parts of the vehicle that needs to be cleaned (ex. wheels, body, lights, etc) so you can identify the appropriate method of cleaning,  frequency and type of cleaning agent to be use. Collaborate with your maintenance team.

For the procedure, you just state clearly how the system defined will flow. (you may create a flow chart)

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks,

Irish

Hi Irish, Thanks for the reply, were having a BRC audit this coming February and I need to create a procedure for Schedules for sanitation and cleaning of the vehicles . Create a procedure and checklist of cleaning the transport vehicle (trucks, jacklift, forklift, grablift).

Thanks,

Buknoy

Hello buknoy,

It is up to the site on how you do the cleaning and the frequency as long as you can justify it to the auditor and it will satisfy the standard. Write down how you are doing in cleaning now and state the frequency. I assume it also reflected on your equipment maintenance program. Make it simple.

In total agreement with redfox.

Just write down what you actually do.

Ensure you include the elements from your cleaning schedule: who to clean, how to clean, when to clean, etc.  Include equipment, chemicals required.

You know your vehicles.  You know what food items go in there.  You determine the frequency.

Remember, you should be cleaning the vehicles anyway, regardless if your company follows a food standard or not…. It’s all about providing safe food to your customers.

You will have a vehicle policy that is something like this:

Control Measures | Vehicle

  • Cleanliness and security of food vehicles is the responsibility of each distributor
  • Ensure road rules and speed limits are followed to prevent potential damage to product
  • Ensure there are no issues with vehicle
  • Pre-load checks are conducted prior to each delivery
  • Vehicles are checked for integrity by the Despatcher and the QA Team
  • Vehicles are not permitted to be used for any purpose outside of company products
  • Vehicles are to be in good repair, free from foreign matter, odours and pests

Then you may have a specific SOP | Standard Operating Procedure that includes maintenance, cleaning, specific checks, etc of each vehicle.
