Hi! Our company is currently AIB certified and will be seeking SQF level two hopefully in the next 12 months (we have a 9 month goal for GAP assessment at a min). I'm feeling a little overwhelmed because i'm still trying to meet our AIB requirements but work on transferring our programs to SQF level. How many months of documentation at SQF level will the auditor require? Will we need a full 12 months of SQF level programs before we try for certification? Probably a foolish question but I wanted to ask anyway!

I believe SQF requires a minimum of 2 months of documentation, but most auditors I have spoken to and worked with have said that they prefer a minimum of 3.

Implement the SQF System – implement the prepared policies, procedures, work instructions and specifications,
and keep records to demonstrate compliance to the relevant modules of the SQF Code.  In other words, “do what
you say.”  SQFI recommends that a minimum of two months of records be available before a site audit is
conducted.

Kind Regards,

Years ago when one of the first SQF training sessions was conducted by SQFI staff a verbal coomunication was made that 3 months really should be the minimun.

There was not anything in writing about this.

Several years later someone from SQFI ssid (again verbally... 2 months.)

Recently I heard someone say they had 1 month of implementation.. then their audit.

We recommend to clients 3 min months for implementation but have seen 2 months as well.

It would really be up to your best judgement. For us we suggest 2 to 4 months after development roll out or in line with development - implement as you roll.
