Can someone give me a definition of Food Handling Area? If open product is transferred through a warehouse or hallway to another location (on racks or in lugs while covered) should policy 11.3.1.3 "Smoking, chewing, eating, drinking or spitting is not permitted in any food processing or food handling areas" be enforced because warehouse and hallways are considered food handling areas?

I am not sure if this helps, but we only allow eating and drinking in the employee break room, and smoking, chewing or spitting outside in designated areas.

A designated spitting area ! Target supplied also ?

I am guessing 11.3.1.3 = SQF

from google -

Food handling -  any aspect of the manipulation of food, including preparation, storage, production, distribution, packaging and service

http://www.answers.c...ndling?#slide=1

So answer to OP is presumably yes if SQF accept above definition.

Kind Regards,

If they must spit it has to be outside (target=garbage can In designated area?). (eww) I am assuming that goes hand in hand with chewing...
