Good Afternoon,

I am looking to add a software program to our QA department that calculates nutritional content for our products (sausages, deli meats, old world products), we currently outsource this process but looking to bring it in-house.

I've found a number of vendors out there offering software / and or some form of web-based access to a database.  The three that I am currently considering are:

  1. Genesis
  2. PrimeLabel
  3. LabelCalc

Has anyone worked with any of these before? Or is there another one that you would recommend?  We are a smaller company and tend to be a little price sensitive.  What I would like to get, is a in the box type of program that I could install and continually use.  I'd like to stay away from recurring annual subscriptions if at all possible (I know that 2 of those I have listed do have annual subscriptions).

Any additional feedback anyone might have would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Michael

I've only worked with Genesis. it does okay for what it does. No regrets. You get out of it what you put into it as a user just like any other database.

Agree with FurFarmandFork on the assessment of Genesis - have not worked with the other two programs

I have used genesis.  its easy too use and I would recommend.  I have tried some less expensive options and they are more time consuming and "clunky".  I don't recall trying the other two.

Thank you.  Which of the "less expensive options" have you tried?  If there are less expensive options out there I would like to investigate those as well.  Most of the options listed above cost around $3k annually, give or take.

Thanks for all the feedback received so far.

Best Regards,

Michael

I was in the same boat as you.  the company didn't want to spend the money.   I think I tried owl soft and some other less expensive options.  I didn't find any that flat our wouldn't work.   however what was taking me hours in the other programs was done much quicker and less painfully in genesis.  I did purchase genesis and was very happy and used it for years.
