We are a small dry blending manufacturer. We  have, monitor & keep records for our 2 Metal Detectors - but I don't have it listed as CCP or Preventative Process control. Can I do a risk analysis and justify this? I would use previous history ( lack of findings) . I think there are a few scientific articles on this but I can't find them.  Any recommendations?

Calling it a Preventive Control would be easy. After all, if it catches some metal, isn't it going to lead to removal of the metal from the product?

Assuming a satisfactory environment, the option often directly relates to yr specific process utilized equipment.

For example, metal link conveyor belts are equivalent to a light bulb to an auditor from a MD POV.

Kind Regards,
