Hi

BRC 8 focuses alot on risks - such as risk assessments for PPE, supplier of services .

Or training also indicated we must look at the allergen risks of the canteen onsite that manufactures food for the staff - however this is in a separate facility and also does contain allergens (such as chocolates sweets etc)

Can anyone assist with a template or an idea of how to go about doing this?

Kind Regards

Hi Nassu,

You need to do a risk assessment for contamination potentials from Canteen > Product/Process.

BRC8 -

4.8.8 Where catering facilities (including vending machines) are provided on the premises, they shall be
suitably controlled to prevent contamination of products (e.g. as a source of food poisoning or
introduction of allergenic material to the site)

.

There are numerous allergen control programs posted on this site, eg -

Hi Nassu,

I made a risk assessment for contamination with allergens from food from employees. probability low, severity high; we have several rules in our hygiene rules, like eating only allowed in canteen, without wearing working clothes, handwashing mandatory after eating. because each meal contains between 2-6 official EU allergens, depending on what someone will eat, we don't do any discrimination between the types of allergens they can bring to the canteen to eat. there is always a question from UK customers if they are allowed to bring products with nuts, but my answer is always yes, because otherwise I have to forbid bread, yoghurt, eggs, and then we don't have what to eat anymore (I know that they cause different reactions in different ways of contamination, but still as long as everybody complies with the rules, they can all eat whatever they want)
