We are BRC accredited, we need to send BRC products on pallets in Dolav bags to other customer locations that aren't BRC accredited for periods of no more than 2-3 hours, before loading onto our own vehicles.

If the pallets are contained within the BRC Dolav bags, are we still BRC compliant even though they touch non BRC premises for a short period of time whilst waiting for loading?

Or are there any other solutions on the market to maintain supply chain integrity?

Sorry I am very new to this, all help and suggestiions welcome.

Thans

Mark

Its a bit hard to understand exactly the process.

Can you explain what is in the bags, how they are sealed and protected and why the have to go to customers before being loaded onto your vehicles?

Is there any opportunity for chemical, physical, microbial, allergen contamination, or tampering etc, during the process?

More information will help to give you a better answer.

By the way welcome we were all new once.

Regards,

Simon

Hi Simon

Thank you. Food products that will be trunked from a BRC facility to a non BRC facility to be distributed by the original BRC company using their fleet again.

The client needs the supply chain to be BRC throughout but with the non BRC facility involved, if the pallet is bagged in the Dolav bag for the couple of hours it's sat in the non BRC Facility, is that enough to maintain BRC throughout the process.

It will be left in a secure area at the partner site and I am hoping the bag would stop tampering and allergens etc.

The UK currently has an obsession with supply chain mapping, so that might be one approach to consider here - detail each step, who is responsible, and what their certification status is. (N.B. It's the site/business, rather than the product, that is certified)

In this case it sounds like there is a distribution hub or similar without BRC in place, so if the client requires a continuous chain of BRC certified companies then unfortunately this isn't it.

If the client requires a distribution chain that is in accordance with BRC requirements then that is a slightly different question, as it's entirely possible to use non-BRC subcontractors, subject to suitable controls. If you're BRC Storage & Distribution certified then I think the clause you'll want to look at is 3.5.2.

Hello Mark, what is exactly the scope of your certificate? (including exceptions, if there are any),

Then I might answer,

best regards,

Leila
