I have a food product that contais high amount of Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB). I try to develop method for detecting sulfite-reducing anaerobes from that product but LAB prevents added C. perfringens growth. Any growth broth or conditions that allows sulfite-reducing anaerobes to grow but inhibits LAB to grow?

If you enumerate directly from food to TSC agar per BAM chapter 16 you don’t get any C perf growth? Are you expecting C perf?

The problem is that customer needs result not detected/25g. With direct inoculation 1 g product we have gained around 50 % recovery for inoculated C. perfringens.
