Hi all,

I work for a company that source food supplements and ingredients from around the world to sell here in the UK. As part of my role, I have created a large spreadsheet that tracks supplier certificates etc. However, one of our suppliers have just had a HACCP audit and passed but they do not have a certificate to prove this as they said they didn't receive one.

My question is, should you receive a certificate to prove HACCP compliance? If not, how can I go about proving their compliance?

What Standard (if any) was the supplier audited against ?

Kind Regards,

Hi Charles, they were audited against ISO 9001.

Hi Charles, they were audited against ISO 9001.

afaik  iso9001 is totally unrelated to haccp ?  (except in the context of a Management System)

(Nonetheless, I would have thought that a Certificate would still have been presented)

The ISO Standard specifically related to Food Safety is iso22000.

Had that once - just tell them to contact their auditing company that did the HACCP audit and have the auditing company send them or you a confirmation of compliance - it will be an email, letter attachment, etc.

We had two companies that informed us they got audited but did not as of yet have proof of a GFSI certificate and the other a HACCP pass - as it turned out, one of them was not telling the truth and the other had their CB send out an email to our client.

Yeah, that is correct.

However, like you say, I'd have thought they would have received a certificate.

Can try googling  <<< examples iso 9001 certificate >>>

Maybe time for a new Supplier.

I already have their ISO 9001:2015 certificate, I just needed some sort of proof of their HACCP compliance.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have asked them to provide some confirmation of compliance which should include the audit date and the due date for their next audit.

Questionnaire and/or self/3rd party audit.

Frankly, If you asked specifically for haccp compliance evidence and received an iso9001 certificate, I would begin to have some "reservations".

I like to give companies two chances to come clean, borrowed from my auditing days - you can easily set up people that are lying, just give them a little bit more rope.

No proof of compliance, no compliance. Period!

Remember one of the main principles in the industry is: if its not written/documented, it never happened.

You should let them know they will be on your pending list until they get you proof for compliance from their CB/auditing body.
