Hello all: so I just recently start a job as a QA manager in a small copacking company, I have experience with food manufacturing, HACCP and SQF, I'm the one who's gonna start the whole implementation of the system and I'm a little nervous since I don't have experience in this branch of the industry, any good recommendations on where to look for good info, any advice, what sections of the CFR 21 code should I have in consideration? we package capsules, pills, powders, and some bottled liquids, I also have to add that we package dog treats and all allergens are present but in different products.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Offhand, I would anticipate that (human?) Pharmaceutical Products present a considerably different "ball-game" to Food ?.

Kind Regards,

Interesting product mix. You'll be dealing with 2 different SQF areas. I would suggest starting off by downloading the pet foods and supplement code books at 9.0 from www.sqfi.com

#1 icon_share.pngBrelimo70, I think part of your business will require to be in compliance with 21 CFR 211 for the pharmaceutical products (capsules, pills, etc.) and pet food to be in compliance with 21 CFR 507 . "The Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk‐based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals regulation (hereafter referred to as the Preventive Controls for Animal Food, or PCAF rule) can be found in Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 507 (21 CFR part 507). The Preventive Controls for Animal Food rule is intended to ensure safe manufacturing, processing, packing, and holding of animal food products in the United States. "
